Packaging buying guide
Molded pulp is formed fiber used to create shaped trays and supports. It can follow product contours and separate items inside an outer box; it is a material direction, not a substitute for the complete box and insert design.
Review cavity depth, wall transitions, draft for removal and clearance around caps or pumps. Fiber texture and dimensional variation can affect contact with polished glass or decorated surfaces. Evaluate the actual product and finish, not only a drawing.
Ask how the chosen forming route affects tooling, sample availability, minimum practical runs and changes after approval. Confirm these project-specific terms before committing artwork or an outer-box size. A prototype does not automatically represent production density or cushioning.
A folded paperboard insert may suit simpler cavities and printed surfaces. Molded pulp is not automatically recycled, compostable or recyclable everywhere: obtain the exact fiber, additive and coating information and assess local recovery conditions before making an environmental claim.
Compare folded paper-based inserts. For a project review, share the finished product, quantity, destination and requirements through a custom quote brief. Availability and the final specification are confirmed in writing.
